Bask in Gentle Arts Simply Wool fibers and add texture to your work!
Stitched with gorgeously soft wool on 30 count linen; ABC 123 has an
appliquéd look. Gentle Arts wools provide wonderful texture and definition
to cross stitch on linen. Using the blanket stitch with Gentle Arts Floss
creates the raised look to the house, the heart and the entire final piece
mounted onto wool fabric. Fun to Stitch!!
Jenny Bean Xmas

Jenny Bean has done it again, just in time for Christmas. The Jenny Bean Christmas Sampler is stitched in lovely antique shades of Sampler Threads by The Gentle Art. Charts are available through Shakespeare's Peddler, and will soon be at Hoffman Distributing and Norden Crafts. No special pack for this one, but Theresa has used some newer and lesser-used (and wonderful!) colors to encourage your customers to stock up on threads. Model is stitched on 40 count Vintage Navy Bean linen by Lakeside Linens. Frame is by Eastside Mouldings.

Not Forgotten Sampler

Not Forgotten Sampler is a gentle piece that is stitched entirely in Gentle Art's Simply Wool thread! Very Primitive in flavor, the wool threads add a softness and age to the colors that silk and cotton do not. Finishing approx 11 x 16, regular cross stitches, 32ct linen, VERY authentic in colonial color and feel!
Linda bought the original sampler from a fellow designer. It was in very sad shape, but somehow it spoke to her. Linda fell in love with the large foral and bird motifs and immediately knew she needed to rescue it.
When she started to reproduce the piece, she realized that it had been stitched entirely with wool thread and felt she needed to do the same.
According to Linda, "the color pallette of the Gentle Art Simply Wool Collection has been a perfect match and as an added bonus, a "dream" to stitch with as well.
I've had such fun recreating this little treasure and hope many of you will try stitching with the wool thread and feel the same."

September 14, 2009 - Jenny Bean's Halloween Sampler uses an exclusive thread pack of the same name by The Gentle Art. Shakespeare's Peddler designed the piece to evoke the spooky mood of fall with a classic sampler verse and elements reminiscent of antiques. For your convenience, the chart has a conversion to the regular line of Sampler Threads. Also watch for Jenny Bean's Pin Tuffet, which is stitched using cotton flosses from The Gentle Art. Available 9/26 at the St. Charles market. (limited quantities available)
July 21, 2009 - The Gentle Art is pleased to announce the return of our Automatic "Loose Feathers" Order Program in conjunction with Blackbird Designs. Blackbird Designs has completed the new loose feather project, and they will go to the printer this week and ship out to all of the shops on August 1st. The photo to the right shows all the bonus sewing accessories provided in the Blackbird Designs' Loose Feather patterns this year. Each Loose Feather pattern provides one of the sewing accessory patterns. The house design on the floss ring is the newest design to be added. Chart linen and any other accessories are available thru Norden Crafts. The Gentle Art thread colors below comprise this "Loose Feathers" thread set. Please note that 2 skeins of the Brandy color are included in 1 set.

"Measure by Measure," a new graph by Shakespeare's Peddler, uses the Harvest Pack of Sampler Threads from The Gentle Art and is a perfect late-summer/early-fall project. Finishing instructions for the Ruler Keep are included along with the chart. The rulers are by Kelmscott Designs, and Weeks Dye Works is the source for the linen and hand-dyed wool. The chart also has a conversion to the regular line of Sampler Threads from The Gentle Art. Photographs show the back and front of this clever two-sided Ruler Keep.
Count Your Blessings. "Count Your Blessings" by Shakespeare's Peddler utilizes the limited edition Autumn Pack of Sampler Threads by The Gentle Art. Rich fall colors in the pack include Cabbage, Haystack, S'mores, Campfire Ashes, Midnight Sky and Red Delicious.
